Serena is one of Ash’s many companions that choose to join him on his Pokémon journey. She joins Ash throughout his Kalos adventures and debuts in Kalos, Where Dreams and Adventures Begin!.
She is a Pokémon Performer, a subset of female trainers who raise Pokémon and compete in showcases. Pokémon showcase events include things like dancing, movement sequences, and more.
Alongside her trusty Fennekin, Serena aims to be the best Pokémon Performer in the world!

History
Serena spent her early life in Kanto against her will, attending a Pokémon Summer camp. After meeting Ash Ketchum as a young child, the two became friends. Years later, the two would be reunited.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series
Serena also made an appearance in Pokémon Journeys: The series, where she performs with Sylveon in a Pokémon Contest. Her Braixen is now a Delphox.
She briefly meets Ashe and Goh before they enter a ship, and Serena waves them goodbye.
In the Manga
Serena doesn’t appear directly in the Pokémon manga. Instead, a character known as Y (Yvonne Gabena) takes her place. Y is the main character of Pokémon Adventures.
Y’s adventures play out differently from Serena’s. Y is a competent Sky Trainer that has garnered the title “Flyer.”

- Cassius promises to take the group to Cyllage City, where it is reported Y’s mother, Grace, is located.
